Are You an EL Teacher?

We are looking for an experienced and energetic EL instructor to help us create content aligned with WIDA's ACCESS exam. This is position is available as both a contract to hire and as an immediate full time role that would be primarily tasked with creating importable Extempore practice assessments.

About the company:

Extempore’s SaaS platform is used by foreign language and EL teachers to assign oral homework and assessments to their students.

Extempore (latin for “Spontaneous”) allows classes to practice speaking asynchronously: instructors create an activity on the web and the students respond on their smart device or computer. The instructor then grades and provides feedback, also on their computer or device, on their own time.

Extempore was started as a side project in 2015 with minimal marketing spend and is growing explosively. Today, hundreds of thousands of students in the US and abroad are using the platform as their main tool for speaking practice and assessment in the language classroom. Our customers range from K-12 institutions and districts to prestigious and large universities.

Most Extempore schools use the app to replace a legacy language lab, since Extempore is fully cloud based, has no maintenance or support costs and can be used on an existing 1:1 program.

Responsibilities:

  • Create sets of importable practice tasks and assessments to be hosted on Extempore commons.
  • Additional work needed (depending on hours):
    • Writing blog posts related to EL instruction.
