Welcome NE Seal of Biliteracy Assessment Administrators!

 

We are excited to partner with your school district to provide access to Minnesota Department of Education Seal of Biliteracy assessments in Amharic, Czech, Dakota, Dari, Hmong, Karen, Ojibwe, Oromo, Pashto, Somali, Swahili, Ukrainian, Tamil and Vietnamese.

These assessments are now available to Nebraska students through a partnership between the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) and the Minnesota Department of Education. The goal of this partnership is to improve access to the Seal of Biliteracy for multilingual learners.

 

On this page you will find the following information and resources that will facilitate your use of these assessments:


Language Assessment Information

  • For the 2024-2025 school year, Extempore & NDE  will be offering assessments for the languages listed below.
  • Assessment of all four skill domains (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) is available through Extempore for Dakota, Karen, Ojibwe, and Oromo. 
  • Listening and reading assessments for most languages listed are available through Extempore. *Listening only for Swahili
  • For speaking and writing assessments, in languages other than Dakota, Karen, Ojibwe, and Oromo, districts must contract with Avant Assessment and/or ACTFL LTI
  • Nebraska students must meet or exceed Intermediate Mid (IM) in all skill domains to qualify for the Seal.

Test Security & Access

Step 1: Sign and honor the test security form

Assurance of Test Security Form

Please make sure to sign the Assurance of Test Security Form before you request a test. Extempore will not provide any test information until the form has been signed. 

By signing this form, you are agreeing to protect the security and integrity of the assessment and student data. Under no circumstances will authorized users leave students unattended, influence test results or reproduce, share or disclose any part of a test.

Please note: The Seal of Biliteracy Assessments are the intellectual property of the Minnesota Department of Education. As such, you are required to sign a security form to ensure protection, and future availability, of this content, when administered within Nebraska school contexts.

Step 2: Complete the request form
